He is survived by four children David (Henrietta) Hipply of Wooster, OH, Beverly (Terry) Legg and Bonnie (Rick) Ward, both of Beaver, OH and Brenda Hale Mahaffey of Mesa, AZ; two step daughters, his caregiver Paula (Ron) Shook of Springfield and Jean Ann (John) Auld of Van Wert, OH; a brother Paul (Suzie) Hale of Waverly; a sister Donna Kay (Hale) Pavey of Mesa, AZ; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a special nephew David (Karen) Dixon; many nieces and nephews. Mildred had been a volunteer for the fire department in Tremont City and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed music and fishing. Mrs. Sassen was a member of the Union Club, the Machinist Club and the Social Club. He and his wife had impressive gardens, complete with fruit trees and grapevines. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services.
