1,400 resident physicians and fellows at Penn Medicine have voted to unionize, forming the first hospital house staff union in Pennsylvania. The group unsuccessfully sought voluntary recognition of the unionization effort earlier this year before ultimately choosing to hold an election. Once the unionization vote, which received 88% approval from workers, is certified by the National Labor Relations Board, workers will begin negotiating for their first contract.
